Steeple Hall at Mission Oak Grill is a private wedding venue located in historic downtown Newburyport, Massachusetts. The renovated former church combines timeless New England architecture with the comfort and flexibility of a modern event space.

Cathedral ceilings, stained-glass details and 3,700 square feet of flexible space create a memorable setting for ceremonies and receptions. Steeple Hall accommodates up to 180 guests for a seated reception or up to 225 guests for a cocktail-style celebration.

Your Wedding, All in One Location

Host your ceremony and reception in the same private venue, allowing guests to enjoy the entire celebration without traveling between locations.

Steeple Hall accommodates onsite ceremonies for up to 180 guests. Following the ceremony, guests may enjoy cocktail hour in Steeple Hall while the space is prepared for the reception.

Couples may also reserve Mission Oak Grill for a separate one-hour cocktail reception for an additional fee.

Private Use of Steeple Hall

Every wedding includes private use of the second and third floors of Mission Oak Grill. The private event space includes:

private changing suite and restroom
elevator access
accessible restrooms
space for a dance floor
space for a DJ or live band
flexible floor plans
full climate control

assistance with client-provided décor placement
assistance with décor breakdown

dedicated day-of coordinator for venue-related details

Couples provide their own decorations. The Steeple Hall team assists with placing approved décor according to the agreed plan and gathering it following the celebration.

Catering by Mission Oak Grill

All food is prepared by Mission Oak Grill’s culinary team. Wedding packages offer flexible menu selections for cocktail hour and reception service.

Our team can accommodate most dietary restrictions, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-sensitive requests. Dietary requirements should be discussed with the Events Sales Director while planning the menu.

Bar Service

Bar options include:

hosted open bar
cash bar
consumption bar
customized beverage selections
signature cocktails

Final bar arrangements depend on the selected wedding package, guest count and event details.

Wedding Schedule

Weddings that include an onsite ceremony may reserve Steeple Hall for a six-hour celebration.

Reception-only weddings include five hours of event time.

Setup, vendor access and other scheduling arrangements are coordinated in advance with the Events Sales Director.

Outdoor Ceremony Option

Couples interested in an outdoor ceremony may work with the City of Newburyport to request the use of nearby Brown Square.

The couple is responsible for obtaining the necessary city approval and arranging chair rental, delivery, setup and breakdown. Availability and authorization are determined by the City of Newburyport.

Steeple Hall is located at 26 Green Street in the heart of historic Newburyport. The waterfront boardwalk, downtown streets and nearby city parks provide beautiful backdrops for wedding photography.

Guests can explore Newburyport’s restaurants, shops, waterfront and historic neighborhoods throughout the wedding weekend.

On-street parking, municipal parking lots and a public garage are available within walking distance of the venue. Parking availability and applicable fees are determined by the City of Newburyport.

Mission Oak Grill can accommodate rehearsal dinners, welcome gatherings and farewell brunches, allowing couples to plan multiple wedding-weekend events in one convenient location.

Availability, space and menu options depend on the date, guest count and selected arrangements.
